Scorer of fastest hat-trick Tommy Ross dies

The scorer of the fastest hat-trick in football, Tommy Ross, has died, one of his former football teams has said.

Mr Ross held the Guinness World Record for three goals scored in 90 seconds while he was playing for Ross County against Nairn County in November 1964.

His death has been announced by Tain club, St Duthus FC, which he managed. Mr Ross was 70.

Inver-born Mr Ross also played for English sides including Peterborough United, Wigan Athletic and York City.

St Duthus has posted tributes to Mr Ross on social media.

The club tweeted: "Everyone at St Duthus Football Club wishes to extend their deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to Tommy's family and close friends at this difficult time.
