Ever-impressive Ajax took control of their Champions League semifinal against Tottenham with a 1-0 first-leg victory in London on Tuesday.
The Dutch side brought their swashbuckling style to the newly christened Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and got the away goal they were looking for -- and deserved -- through Donny van de Beek after just 15 minutes.
The game was briefly halted when Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen had to be helped off the field shortly after attempting to play on following a clash of heads just after the half-hour mark.
Vertonghen challenged for a header in the Ajax area but slammed his face into the back of teammate Toby Alderweireld's head, leaving him with blood pouring from a cut on his nose.
