Boxing Day belonged to two Premier League strikers as Harry Kane and Roberto Firmino shone in emphatic wins for Tottenham and Liverpool respectively.
Kane's second hat-trick in four days helped Spurs smash Southampton 5-2 and saw him break the Premier League record for most goals — 39 — scored in a calendar year, before Firmino's double inspired Liverpool to a 5-0 victory over Swansea.
Firmino has now scored 16 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this season. That is eight fewer than Kane's current tally, but former Reds defender Jamie Carragher believes both players perform roles which are almost equally important.
