Bill Shankly took over at Anfield in December, 1959, led them to the old Division Two title in 1962 and within two years, lifted the Division One championship.
Under his guidance, the Reds went on to win titles in 1966 and 1973, the FA Cup in 1965 and 1974 and the UEFA Cup in 1973.
Retiring aged 60 in the summer of 1974, Shankly handed over the reigns to Bob Paisley and he would lead the Merseysiders to six titles between 1974-1983, three European Cups in 1977, 1978 and 1981, a hat-trick of League Cups in 1981, 1982 and 1983 and the UEFA Cup in 1976.
