Footballers should be allowed to terminate their contracts and leave a club for free if their wages are cut amid the coronavirus crisis, according to the agent of Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld.
Since the pandemic took hold and stopped football in its tracks, Premier League players have come under significant pressure to cut their salaries, but no agreement has yet been made with top flight chiefs.
Some non-playing staff at clubs up and down the country - including at Spurs - have been furloughed while players continue to be paid their full salaries, but Alderweireld's agent insists stars should be treated more like 'regular workers' when it comes to being able to leave for free.
