Tottenham went 10 Premier League games unbeaten at the start of last season before they lost, but they have suffered a defeat in only their third game of this campaign.
But Spurs and boss Ange Postecoglou will be wondering how they were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle to leave the north east empty handed after a dominant second-half performance, triggered by the introduction of Brennan Johnson at half-time.
Johnson had been dropped from the starting line-up and watched the hosts go in with a 1-0 advantage thanks to a goal from Harvey Barnes.
But Johnson, who replaced Pape Matar Sarr, was instrumental in Tottenham equalising with his shot bouncing in off home defender Dan Burn.
