The world transfer record is something clubs have always taken pride in breaking over the years - and a new fee could top the list in 2017.
Recent reports have linked Real Madrid with a €180million move for Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe, while Paris Saint-Germain could trigger Neymar's €222million release clause at Barcelona.
Both deals would smash the record considerably, with Mbappe's fee €75million more than the current figure which saw Paul Pogba return to Manchester United in 2016.
