Mauricio Pochettino says it was a ‘shame’ to see Gylfi Sigurdsson leave Tottenham — a player he identified as ‘perfect’ after his exit for Swansea City had already been sealed.
Icelandic playmaker Sigurdsson is back at White Hart Lane on Saturday with Swansea, two-and-a-half years on from his exit which came just days into Pochettino’s Spurs reign.
And the Spurs boss has revealed he had picked the 27-year-old to play in a pre-season friendly in Seattle before hearing an agreement had already been reached for his departure.

Club sources say former technical director Franco Baldini influenced the manager to let Sigurdsson go.
