Tottenham’s players were woken twice in the early hours of Tuesday by lavish displays of fireworks outside their hotel in Marseille ahead of a crucial Champions League game.
Marseille fans targeted the luxury hotel where the Spurs party, including boss Antonio Conte and England captain Harry Kane, were staying in the French city with two separate long and loud spells of explosions from rockets and streamers.
It was a night when hundreds of partygoers took to the streets around the port to celebrate Halloween but this was considered to be a deliberate attempt to disturb the team, a popular tactic among fans in some parts of the world.
