Manchester United are 'monitoring' Toby Alderweireld at Tottenham with the defender stalling on a new deal.
The 28-year-old's contract expires in 18 months but there is the option to extend by another year and United are keeping tabs on the situation, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Next summer a £25million release clause in the centre-back's contract becomes active, adding another dimension to proceedings.

That clause must be triggered no later than two weeks before deadline day.
