Tony Marchi, part of our 1963 European Cup Winners’ Cup-winning side and the only player to have been around the squad when we won the First Division in 1951 and 1961, received a personal letter from Mauricio Pochettino and a gift bag from the Club – hand-delivered to his home in Maldon, Essex, by our legendary former captain and current Club Ambassador Gary Mabbutt.
A local boy born in Edmonton on 21 January, 1933, Tony joined our youth ranks in 1948 and made his first team debut as a 17-year-old under Arthur Rowe in a 2-1 home defeat to Grimsby Town in April, 1950.
