Two world-class saves in the second half by Hugo Lloris earned Spurs a point in Germany. For much of the first half Tottenham were the better team and should have gone into the interval ahead, with Dele Alli flashing a free header wide, Vincent Janssen hitting the bar and Erik Lamela having a volley well saved. But Leverkusen regrouped and reorganised at the break, dominated possession in the second half and it will be Spurs ending the game happier with the result.
Positives
A clean sheet. Spurs defence has been the bedrock of the team's success this season and the central defensive pairing of Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier repeatedly made crucial interventions to deny Leverkusen in the second period.
