Liverpool's bid to overturn Curtis Jones' red card during Saturday's controversial Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur has been denied.
The 22-year-old will serve a three-match ban after being sent off for a high tackle on Yves Bissouma.
Referee Simon Hooper had initially shown Jones a yellow for the clumsy challenge but upgraded to a red after reviewing it on the pitchside monitor.
The Reds subsequently appealed the decision but have since confirmed that they did so unsuccessfully.
A statement from the club read: 'Curtis Jones is set to serve a three-match Premier League suspension after an appeal to overturn the red card he received at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday was unsuccessful.
