Ledley: "If anyone is going to beat my record, I just hope it's going to be a Spurs player"

Christian’s lightning strike after just 10.5 seconds in a memorable 2-0 win against Manchester United no doubt caught a few people out - including Ledley.

“I missed the goal!” Ledley told us today. “I had my back to the pitch and was shuffling along to my seat. I was like ‘what happened?’ I saw Christian running off to celebrate and my immediate reaction was ‘that must be quicker than my goal’.

“However, the people around me were soon saying 11, 12 seconds, so I knew then it was safe - for now.”

As time goes by, Ledley admits he’s growing ever fonder of his achievement at Valley Parade on 9 December 2000, when he struck from 30 yards with just 10 seconds on the clock against Bradford City.
