Wigan are in talks with former England defender Steven Caulker who has spent the last four years in Turkey.
Manager Kolo Toure sees 31-year-old Caulker as a help in tightening up his bottom-of-the-table team.
The centre-half scored on his only England appearance against Sweden in 2012 and after spells with 14 different clubs including Tottenham and Liverpool he's played for Fatih Karagumruk in the Turkish top flight this season.
He most recently played in England during a three year spell at QPR which saw him sent out on loan twice before he was finally sold to Dundee in 2018.
