Kieran Trippier admits his 'standards have dropped' and is 'nowhere near' his usual level... as Eddie Howe insists a 'whole combination of things are hurting' Newcastle after 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest

Kieran Trippier has admitted that his 'standards have dropped' as both he and manager Eddie Howe criticised Newcastle's second-half performance in their 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle took the lead through an Alexander Isak penalty, only to be stunned by their former forward Chris Wood, as Nottingham Forest punished the Magpies on the counter attack.

Trippier has endured a nightmare December with his mistakes costing them in defeats to Everton, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Howe's side in general though are struggling for form in what has been an injury-plagued season at St James' Park.
