Hugo Lloris deal is Tottenham's 'biggest step forward' - Pochettino

LONDON -- Mauricio Pochettino believes persuading Hugo Lloris to commit to Tottenham is the "biggest step forward" he has made since joining the club as manager.

On Thursday, Spurs announced that their captain had agreed a new five-and-a-half year contract until 2022 -- the second long-term deal the 29-year-old has signed since Pochettino was appointed in May 2014.

Pochettino guided Spurs to a club-record third-place finish last season and he has transformed the club into genuine title challengers, despite having a fraction of the transfer budget and wage bill of the Premier League's other five big clubs, and he believes the France captain's commitment is significant.
