Harry Kane should be handed England captaincy full-time before World Cup because he 'thrives on pressure,' says Three Lions legend Terry Butcher

England legend Terry Butcher believes Harry Kane should be handed the Three Lions captaincy at this summer's World Cup because the striker 'thrives on pressure'.

Tottenham forward Kane has already scored 39 goals for club and country this season and will hopefully enter the tournament in Russia in sparkling form.

Gareth Southgate has rotated the England captaincy since Wayne Rooney retired from international football back in 2016, with Kane leading the side on four occasions.

Given the striker has scored five goals during those matches - which were World Cup qualifiers against Scotland, Slovenia and Lithuania, and a friendly with France - it is clear the armband carries no extra weight.
