Remove Erling Haaland from the picture and we might all be marvelling once again at the staggering consistency of Harry Kane.
At Brighton on Saturday, Kane scored the only goal, his eighth of the campaign, and has netted in all but two of Tottenham’s nine league games this season.
He has not been at what Spurs fans will recognise as his explosive best. Not fizzing rockets past despairing goalkeepers from long distance, nor plundering doubles and trebles.
Just scoring more goals in quiet pursuit of long-standing records.
