Former Tottenham defender Serge Aurier is poised to link up with ex-Arsenal boss Unai Emery as he heads for a medical with Villarreal after having his Spurs contract cancelled

Former Tottenham defender Serge Aurier is in talks to sign for LaLiga side Villarreal.

The 28-year old full back is a free agent after cancelling his contract with Tottenham by mutual consent on transfer deadline day in August.

He is due to undergo a medical in Villarreal on Monday ahead of signing for Unai Emery's side, although the length of his contract with the Europa League champions has yet to be revealed.

He left Spurs after a four-year spell and 110 appearances, having joined from PSG - where Emery was one of his managers - in 2017 where he won two Ligue 1 titles.
