Former Spurs midfielder Brooke dies aged 64

Former Tottenham midfielder Garry Brooke, who was twice part of FA Cup-winning Spurs teams, has died at the age of 64.

The Premier League club said on social media, external that it was "deeply saddened" to learn of Brooke's passing on Saturday morning "following a lengthy battle with illness".

It added: "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this impossibly difficult time."

Brooke came on as a substitute in Tottenham's FA Cup final victories over Manchester City and QPR in 1981 and 1982 respectively.

He was involved in a serious car accident in 1983 but recovered to feature in the early rounds of Spurs' run to Uefa Cup victory in the 1983-84 season.
