Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has quit as boss of Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG and will take a break from the game.

Villas-Boas was offered a one-year extension to his current deal but, according to The Telegraph, he has made it clear that he does not intend to return to England.

The 40-year-old tried to avoid answering questions about his future last Saturday after his side lost the Chinese FA Cup final on away goals to bitter rivals Shanghai Shenhua.
