Erik Lamela, Vincent Janssen not in Spurs' Champions League squad

Erik Lamela and Vincent Janssen have been left out of Tottenham's Champions League squad for the group stage.

Clubs are able to name a maximum of 25 players in the squad but Spurs are limited to just 21 because they only have two "club-trained" players in the squad -- Harry Kane and Danny Rose.

A "club-trained player" is a player who, between the age of 15 and 21, has been registered with his current club for three seasons and because Spurs have so few their squad size has been reduced in accordance with UEFA's homegrown restrictions.

Lamela has not played since October due to a persistent hip problem and he is still some way from a return after undergoing double hip surgery in May, while Janssen has slipped further down the pecking order following the deadline-day signing of Fernando Llorente.
