The striker and back-to-back Golden Boot winner in the Premier League will lead the Three Lions in the World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park this evening (5pm).
The first Spurs player to wear the armband for England was all-time great Vivian Woodward, who led the country 14 times between 1908-1911, 12 as a Spurs player. Woodward won 23 caps between 1903-11, scored 29 goals and remains the England striker with the best goals-per-game ratio (1.26).
The last Spurs player to captain England was Scott Parker against Holland on February 28, 2012, the only time he'd wear the armband in his 18 caps.
