Dilan Markanday has played just 15 minutes of first team football for Tottenham.
But the in-form attacking midfielder’s pioneering progress at Spurs is already earning him Heung-Min Son-style adulation back in India.
Markanday is the first British Asian and player of Indian descent to play for Spurs, making his historic debut against Vitesse Arnhem in in the Europa Conference League last month.
It was a hugely significant moment firstly for Markanday and his family but also the South Asian community given their lack of representation in English football, an issue that has long required addressing.
