Dele Alli has revealed that Liverpool once tried to tempt him into signing a contract with an offer of meeting his childhood hero, Steven Gerrard, but the Reds captain fell asleep before it could happen.
Alli was linked with a number of Premier League clubs after impressing as a youngster for MK Dons, and eventually signed for Tottenham for £5million in 2015.
However, the England international has revealed he almost joined Liverpool and even traveled north to visit the club to discuss a potential transfer to Anfield.
Alli says he was promised a meeting with his idol, which fell through at the last minute when the Liverpool captain fell asleep ahead of a match.
