Arsenal are examining CCTV footage after Dele Alli was struck in the head by a plastic bottle thrown by a supporter at the Emirates Stadium last night.
Television footage showed Alli was hit by the missile in the 72nd minute after the England midfielder had earlier scored Tottenham’s second goal of the night.
Alli responded by signalling ‘2-0' towards Arsenal’s supporters as Spurs sealed their spot in the Carabao Cup’s semi-finals, where they will face Chelsea next.
Club security are now trying to identify the culprit and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino branded the person behind the incident ‘stupid’ afterwards.
