Charlotte FC and Atlanta paid tribute to the memory of its late defender Anton Walkes on Saturday night before it kicked off its Major League Soccer season against New England Revolution.
Walkes died in January after a boat accident in Miami at the age of 25, sending the Charlotte team into mourning as they prepared for the upcoming MLS campaign.
Teams across MLS held a moment of silence before the games on Saturday on the opening weekend of the new season.
He played a year at Atlanta before joining Charlotte for its first MLS season in 2022.
