Bayern Munich are due to make an improved near £70million bid for Harry Kane, but they want the transfer settled quickly.
However, even the new offer seems unlikely to meet Tottenham’s expectations, leaving the striker in limbo as he returns to training before Spurs set off on their pre-season tour to Australia, Thailand and Singapore on Friday.
The Bundesliga champions have yet to bid more than €70m (£56m), which won’t be enough to convince Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sell, even though Kane, 30 this month, has just one year left on his contract.
