Atletico Madrid are keen to secure a deal for Tottenham defender Cristian Romero before the Club World Cup, according to a report.
Romero has been a key cog in the Spurs side since joining on an initial loan from Atalanta in the 2021-22 season.
The 26-year-old was critical of the club's hierarchy and recruitment policy in December, highlighting a lack of depth to their squad in comparison to the Premier League's elite, following a glut of injuries.
Having missed a number of games this season through injury and suspension himself, he has also praised his national side's medical staff in comments that have been construed as a subtle dig towards his rehab treatment at Spurs.
