Dwight Yorke struck three times, with Roy Keane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also on the scoresheet, as United raced into a 5-1 half-time lead after Thierry Henry had briefly drawn Arsenal level. Teddy Sheringham added a late sixth to move Sir Alex Ferguson's champions 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Arsenal were swept aside by a rampant Liverpool side, who scored four times in the opening 20 minutes through a Martin Skrtel brace and efforts from Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge. Sterling made it 5-0 at the start of the second half, with Mikel Arteta's penalty nothing more than a consolation.
