Ange Postecoglu wants Tottenham to accelerate the quest for reinforcements in central defence.
Spurs are close to striking a £3million deal to sign England U19 international centre-half Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers, who are under pressure to cash with financial crisis looming.
Phillips, 18, will undergo a medical within the next 24 hours and join Postecoglu's squad for the latter stages of the preseason tour in Australia and South East Asia if all goes to plan.
The new boss remains in pursuit of senior signings in central defence, however, and ideally wants them in before the Premier League season starts.
