Allan, born in Northampton and brought up in Hackney, emerged through the youth ranks at Chelsea in the early 1960s and had two spells at Stamford Bridge, playing against us in the 1967 FA Cup Final alongside his brother Ron.
A full-back, Allan also played for Coventry City, Queens Park Rangers, Plymouth Argyle and Cambridge United. He moved into coaching with his former Chelsea youth team mate Terry Venables and they worked together at Crystal Palace, QPR and Barcelona before joining Spurs in 1987.
Harris subsequently coached Al-Ahly in Egypt as well as the Malaysian national side and had a brief spell as manager of Espanyol.
