Daniel Levy has expressed fears that staging the rest of the Premier League season — and potentially the whole of the following campaign — at neutral venues would further hinder his attempt to sell naming rights for Tottenham’s new stadium.
The Spurs chairman surprised many of his fellow Premier League executives by speaking out strongly against the neutral grounds proposal at last week’s shareholders’ meeting, with the naming rights issue one of his main concerns along with other commercial considerations.
Tottenham’s ground was not one of the venues put forward by the Premier League as it is located in a densely populated area of north London, so a naming rights partner and other sponsors would not have received any television exposure.
