I’m continuing to receive suggestions of candidates for the Toronto Raptors’ #20 selection in the upcoming NBA Draft – thanks Rapture Nation. Before I slog on with that work, I thought we might have a look at past drafts, to see how well, or how poorly, teams have made out with this pick.
Great players have been selected late over the years, but that’s rare. Scouts are competent, in-person workouts and interviews are exhaustive. There’s little likelihood of “finding” a star outside the lottery (i.e., the first 14 picks).
In 1997 with #20, Minnesota chose Paul Grant.
