“Canada, the NBA title is yours!”
That was the call by Raptors play-by-play man Matt Devlin as the team began to celebrate its first NBA championship, after defeating the Golden State Warriors 114-100 in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
It was a scene that many Raptors fans had dreamed of — and not just the ones in Toronto.
Across the country, fans gathered at home, in bars and at versions of Jurassic Park to watch and cheer. When Devlin made his famous call, it wasn’t just Toronto’s time; it was Canada’s moment.
