To the shock of no one, Masai Ujiri has agreed to a multi-year contract extension to stay on as President of the Toronto Raptors. In related news, Jeff Weltman will be promoted to General Manager, and Bobby Webster will step up as Assistant General Manager/Vice-President Basketball Strategy (by far the coolest title).
Here’s the official announcement:
Since being named President and General Manager of the team on May 31, 2013, Ujiri has, to put it extremely mildly, done some good things. On the court, Masai managed to off-load every disastrous contract the Raptors had, bring in valuable assets, and oversee the longest sustained run of feel-good success the team has ever had, peaking (so far) as it has with the team’s trip to the Eastern Conference Finals last spring.
