We are publishing a post which might better be named after one of Jean-Paul Sartre’s works: “Being and Nothingness”. That’s because the NBA Trade Deadline clangs down at 3:00 this afternoon, and the Toronto Raptors appear set to do…nothing.
I’m not complaining. I’ve bruited about the idea of moving Jonas Valanciunas, but (barring a blockbuster deal), he’s not going anywhere. For financial reasons only, I suggested a trade of Fred VanVleet might be a wise longer-term move. I see no smoke signals on that horizon either.
There’s general consensus, which I share, that the acquisition of a veteran scorer to fill out the Raptors’ 15th roster spot couldn’t hurt.
