The Serge Ibaka experiment has not worked out for the Toronto Raptors. After a disappointing stint in Orlando, General Manager Masai Ujiri traded for Ibaka, hoping a proper basketball situation would help return to his’ former self.
It did not pay off. Ibaka was a somewhat awkward fit in the Raptors’ lineup, and with only half-a-season to gel, Toronto was swept at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This offseason, with few other options to improve the team, Ujiri doubled-down on that bet. The Raptors signed Ibaka to a three-year $65 Million dollar deal.
