Believe it or not, Stanley Johnson was the Toronto Raptors biggest acquisition this offseason. He received more money than any other free agent while also managing to secure a player option in the second year.
Toronto did use a 2nd-round pick on Dewan Hernandez, but as a rookie, he’s unlikely to make an impact this season. Also, on average, $3.6 million in cap space is more valuable than the 59th overall pick.
Despite his status of top newcomer, expectations are reasonable for Johnson at the moment. He’ll likely be given a spot in the rotation to start the year, but other than that, little is promised.
