A season ago, if you said Pascal Siakam would be the best players on the Toronto Raptors heading into the 2018-2019 season, it almost certainly would have come with the implication that the team would be tanking. There’s no way he could be the best player of a competent team. He was Toronto’s eighth-man at the end of 2016-2017, and even heading into training camp last year, we weren’t sure he was going to be a starter.
Well, look at him now. Pascal Siakam is the best player on the Toronto Raptors, the franchise cornerstone, and the likely recipient of a max-contract extension either this offseason or next.
