Following on from a highly successful rookie season, expectations were high for OG Anunoby. The Toronto Raptors watched Anunoby fall to 23rd in the 2017 NBA Draft, and the pick was considered something of a steal.
Anunoby averaged 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game while operating as the Raptors primary defender. For a rookie to take on that mantle, that’s high praise – and it was certainly deserved praise for the former Indiana forward.
A low-maintenance, low-usage small forward, Anunoby could work off the ball and knock down three-pointers on a consistent basis. His first season saw him hit 37-percent of his threes on just under three attempts per game.
