After being diagnosed with kidney disease, Toronto police Chief Mark Saunders is expected to undergo a kidney transplant next week — and his wife will be the donor.
As first reported by CTV News Toronto late Friday, Saunders has been living with one kidney all his life and has been forced to undergo kidney dialysis at night for the last 15 months.
He is expected to have transplant surgery Monday. It’s not clear how long his recovery will take.
