The phone calls pinged from one residence to another. The Zoom chats were frequent. The FaceTime conversations kept everyone in touch as best they could.
And in the middle of it all was Kyle Lowry, because he is the leader of the Raptors’ pack and it’s his duty, his responsibility, to check in on everyone and offer whatever support he can during the team’s COVID-19 outbreak.
It was odd and a bit unnerving.
It was a sign of these weird times.
“Of course you’re anxious just because they’re your brothers, they’re your friends first and foremost, and you want to make sure they’re healthy, whatever it is,” Lowry said of the worrisome, troublesome, unprecedented week the Raptors are experiencing.
