Almost every night the search is renewed for the Raptors.
They pick and choose and make educated guesses on which end-of-the-rotation players will have the best chance to make an impact on a game.
They never know for certain whether it’s a Terence Davis night or a DeAndre’ Bembry night, or Matt Thomas or Yuta Watanabe or Stanley Johnson or Aron Baynes.
They examine the opponent, read the temperature of the game as it develops and make the move they think makes the most sense.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails. It’s a fact of life with a roster that includes a lot of backups who are basically the same.
