The Raptors have become the team that can’t shoot straight

ORLANDO—As another sombre post-game press conference wound to a conclusion, Nick Nurse stared at the box score and counted up the damage.

“They made 14 threes,” the Raptors head coach said of the Orlando Magic on Sunday night. “They got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven different guys that hit one. And six different guys hit two. So they’ve got some good shotmaking, for sure.”

What Nurse didn’t say, in the wake of a 111-99 Toronto loss that capped Orlando’s two-game sweep of the Raptors’ trip to the home of Disney, is something to the effect of: Geez, it must be nice to have players who can actually, reliably direct the leather ball through the orange ring.
