There remains much work for the Raptors to do.
Porous defence and some late-game rebounding woes bit them on Saturday night as they lost their second game of the regular season, a 119-114 decision to the Spurs in San Antonio.
A Spurs offensive rebound led to a LaMarcus Aldridge basket with about 30 seconds to go that gave San Antonio their final lead. DeMar DeRozan got his hands on a loose ball after a scramble under the basket and kicked it out to set up Aldridge for the winner.
The Spurs finished the game on a 9-0 run as the Raptors just did not execute well enough in a tight contest.
