The Raptors did not create the NBA monster that’s come to be known as load management but they certainly made it more in vogue with their handling of Kawhi Leonard last season. But the phrase is becoming tiresome to some.
New York Knicks coach David Fizdale unloaded on the issue of rest after he was questioned Sunday about the heavy early-season minutes being played by rookie RJ Barrett. The Toronto native is averaging more than 37 minutes a game and has topped 40 in two of the Knicks’ first seven games.
“We gotta get off this load management crap,” Fizdale said.
