The Kyle Lowry deal will set off a chain reaction for the Raptors. But there’s no big rush

Moving fast is sometimes best, but moving too quickly is often foolish.

And as the Raptors go through free agency — waiting to finalize the one deal that should unlock some others — it’s wise to remember that team president Masai Ujiri and general manager Bobby Webster are patient men who understand the painstaking process of building an NBA roster that’s good enough to at least challenge for a championship.

It’s really not hard to see what they’re doing, and what their long game is.

They’d like a team of young, athletic players who are interchangeable for the most part, in a game growing more positionless by the season, and it’s a process to put that in place.
