The first Canadian drafted by the Raptors has a two-year contract.
Dalano Banton, the Rexdale product taken 46th in this year’s NBA draft, has signed a two-year deal with the Raptors, the team announced Saturday.
The first year of the $2.5-million (U.S.) deal is fully guaranteed, basically assuring the six-foot-nine guard will be on the opening-night roster in October.
Banton grew up in Rexdale and attended two American prep schools before playing college basketball at Western Kentucky and Nebraska.
Banton’s signing gives the Raptors 11 players with guaranteed contracts for next season: Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr.
